Mona is an excavation of the underside of human nature. We’ve built an extension to our museum, called Pharos, to round out the metaphor. A crack of light… And a nice spot to sit down, because people are always complaining there aren’t enough chairs in the museum.

Pharos houses four major works by James Turrell, and one each from Jean Tinguely, Charles Ross, Richard Wilson, Randy Polumbo and Nam June Paik. Also a bar and restaurant, called Faro, where you can eat, drink and enjoy the view of the Derwent, until late into the night.

You’ll need to buy extra tickets to see certain artworks in Pharos. Event Horizon by James Turrell will have a $10 entry fee from Boxing Day 2018. Use your O device to queue for this artwork on the day of your visit, and pay staff at the artwork entrance. No cash, sorry.

Tickets to Turrell’s Unseen Seen and Weight of Darkness are $25, and include timed entry to both artworks. 18+ only and limited to two people per session. Pre-book tickets through our website or you’ll probably miss out.
